is there anything worth stealling from a ford aerostar that would match up with my 87 ranger 2.9? Or from any other rangerlate or old that would be a nice inprovement thx! I hope there is some good things because here in the south there isn't nothing more fun then taking a dig in the boneyard!
I don't advocate crime...or are you talking about junkyard scrounging?
The Aerostar shares its drivetrain with the Ranger, and that's about it. Maybe a few odds and ends of things as well.
I swapped the radiator from a '91 Ranger with a 4.0 and power everything into my 2.9 Ranger and it runs much cooler. If you get creative enough, you can make all sorts of things work for you.

I'm guessing engine, transmission, rear axle, wheels. When I had my 92 Ranger it had the same size 14" tires as the Aerostar. I've put on used Michelins that came off Aerostars a few times. In fact, I never put a new tire on that truck in the 90k+ miles that I owned it, and always was able to find the exact same Michelin tire because they were so plentiful from the Aerostars.
You also should check some pretty universal things like power window motors, lock motors, and their switches.
haha no not plannign to steal anything i live in the south its not needed with the thousands of lovly boneyards. heck half the people down here have atleast five cars and there yard and onlt 2 of them work. Yeah i was thinking about swaping a 4.0 radiator but for some odd reason my car runs really cool during the summer and winter(like middle m in norm to lower M in the winter. But in otherwords i was lookign for performance parts like does it have a better intake like the 2.9 Murkur Scorpio with a daul TB (But the likely hood of me find ind a brittish ford in the south is slim to nill). though i did take the grill off an older Aerostar and meshed it with my rangers. its a nice replacement over stock and makes my ranger standout agenst the regular gril or the billet insert.
Sounds interesting. Do you have any pics? Perhaps you could set up your gallery so we could see what your grille looks like. I've been planning to make my own grille for a while now, just haven't gotten to it yet.
I doubt that an Aerostar has anything on it that would be an improvement over our Rangers. Some of the last 2.9s had MAF which you could swap in. That in itself probably wouldn't add power, but then you could maybe swap in a bigger throttle body (I think you already have the largest 2.9 throttle body) and add a cam and some other improvements. Maybe some 4.0 EFI parts would work. I haven't really researched it as I'm going in a slightly different direction with mine.
hmm well i haven't updated this site for a long time but here is a picture of the grill as of 3weeks ago. right now i am in the stage of cutting and mold 2 air ram hole to flood the engin with cool air on those warm summer days but here is the picture after the accident. i will try to set up some pick on this site i just haven't had time .
yeah befor the accident the whole front was wild berry strawberry(i think thats it) witha light silver flake that came custom option with a beleave a 92 probe. but the black in the picture is primer so i can get ready to get the intire thing repainted to match. thought a tth moment i have been thinking about fillinf in the light holes in the spoiler and smothing it off a lil more to try to get iot to flow with the rest of the body kit. enh but i geus the body kit thing is a personal taste. i really just kett it on to stop my self from lowering the truck to the point were it loses streatabilty and or performace.
