I have a problem, of course. Well i got my bed installed, but the taillights have problems. When i turn on my headlights, the taillights dont come on, and when i turn my right turn signal on all of the rear lights blink (both side markers, and rear taillights), but if i push the brakes, the left taillight stops blinking, but the left side marker blinks. The hazard lights work right. ALso when i hit the brakes, side markers and taillights come on. With left turn signal on, left taillight comes on, but no side marker. can anyone help me out on this one? All this trouble with the bed and i hevent even started working with the front.....
Does anyone have a diagram for the bed wiring from the plug harness on the frame back?
Did everything work correctly before you had the box off? Did you replace any wires? Is there a possobility that the wires got crossed when you hooked them back up?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Mar-02 AT 01:27 PM (EST)]when i bought it it had a wood bed and they had butchered the plug off the frame, so i had to replace that too.
Ok it sounds like the wires could be mixed up. Just taking a calculated guess from the symptoms you describe
"when i turn my right turn signal on all of the rear lights blink (both side markers, and rear taillights)"
This sounds like the right turn signal wire is feeding the taillight circuit.
"ALso when i hit the brakes, side markers and taillights come on" This also could be caused by the right turnsignal wire feeding the taillight circuit.
"With left turn signal on, left taillight comes on, but no side marker."
This sounds like it may be working correctly just not flashing, hard to tell until you are sure the wires are connected correctly.
The back of the truck should be wired like this:
a)taillights and sidemarker lights for both left and right side should be connected together(all brown wires for factory harness)also the license plate light is connected to this circuit and is also a brown wire. They also should light up the filament in the bulb that is separate from the brake/turn signal one and it is also a little dimmer.
b)right brake and turnsignal same bulb filament and wire (green wire from factory)brighter of the two bulb filaments.
c)left brake and turnsignal same bulb filament and wire (yellow wire from factory)brighter of the two bulb filaments.
d)there should be a ground at each taillight, side marker, license plate light (black wires going to ground stud behind taillight assembly)
So to sum up There should be a wire harness to the rear of the truck with 4 wires: green for right hand brakes and signal, yellow for lefthand brakes and signals, brown for tailights, license plate lights and side makers and of course black/red stripe for reverse lights.
Hope this helps out and isnt too confusing.
