I'm storing my boat for the winter and as usual am left with about 2 gal of gas mixed 50:1 with 2 stroke oil. Anybody see any problems with mixing this gas with the gas in my truck in order to use it up. I have dual 15 gal? tanks on my F350. I'm thinking 1 gal. mixed with 14 gal. would be OK. Any thoughts? Thanks
A gallon of 50:1 diluted into 15 gallons becomes a a 750:1 mixture. I'm thinking you don't have anything to worry about. My neighbor does it every year with his chainsaw oil. And you can make it 1500:1 by only putting in a half gallon twice instead of one gallon one time. Or 3000:1, or 6000:1, etc. You get the point. I'd do it but I ain't no expert. I'm just figuring that old worn out trucks burn oil all the time and still run so what's a few microdrops of 2-stroke oil. It's lighter weight than what you lube your truck with anyway and mixed with gas, it's really light in weight.
Amen to doing it also. I put 4 or 5 gallons in once. Didnt smoke any more than normal. I've also run it through my 4 stroke quad and mower..... no problems.
Just curious, but what kind of boat do you have? We have an 18 foot Lund Explorer w/ a 90 horse 2 stroke. The gas tank in the boat is 32 gallons, so we usually have a good 1/4 to 1/2 tank left by the end of boating season. Every year we just add a little Stabil to the tank as part of our winterizing procedure. Granted our engine mixes the oil for us, but as I think about it, you are prolly only talking about a portable gas tank that you can take on and off the boat. If I were in that situation, I would definitely go FISHING. Waaaahooo. Cheers, and good fishin next season
I would not worry about it, I put a quart of Marvel Mystry Oil 1/2 in the front tank and 1/2 in the back to clean the injectors and the fuel lines. Works great and has never caused a problem.
