I bought an Auto Zone "lifetime waranty starter in 1982. I've had to take it back and get it replaced about 6 or 7 times. You should see the looks I get when I show the reciept. When they said life time I took them at their word. It's not much of a starter though or I wouldn't have had so many failures.
Make sure you have it fully bolted in place. Otherwise it's probably the bendix is bad.
I'm thinking of trying a mini hi-torque unit.
Glad to hear you got it fixed, my experience with autozone is that you will always get another one if the one they sell you breaks and always open the box to see if what you asked for is really in there. This has happened to me numerous times and man is it frustrating>
You know that a parts house starter is one that is zillon of years old, and has probably been rebuilt more times than Bill clinton lied on the stand. You can get a new high tork mini starter if you look hard enough for about $150. You will never go back to the parts house cheapies (willingly anyways)
