Hello,
just finished searching the forum but could not find a satisfactory answer - so here goes.
Coming back from off-roading, I found my passenger side lower front shock bracket completely snapped off. The drivers side is also bent down as well and looks to go any minute. So, I have 2 questions:
#1. Where can I find a replacement for these (part# ??)
#2. Are there aftermarket brackets to address this issue - maybe stronger ones?
I have a 90 Bronco 5.8L Skyjacker 6in susp lift and 3 in body lift, with Skyjacker platinum series shocks. I ride the heck out of this truck at the dunes and utilize all 4 shocks in front, so just 2 shocks in the front is not an option for me. Thanks for your help - and have a good one!
Are your shocks bottoming out when you come down? That sounds like the first question that needs to be addressed. Otherwise, replacing them with heavy duty ones might cause you to destroy your shocks after a few good jumps... Just a thought.
I don't believe they are bottoming out - I do have the 4 inch bump stops in the front and I show little if any wear or signs of contact - I am entertaining some longer air bumps in the future though.
Well, as promised I am going to post the results. Basically, no one has any real info on whether there are aftermarket lower shock mount brackets for the very front shocks.
Fortunately, when I had ordered my Skyjacker Platinum Gas shocks, they can with 2 mounts that fit perfectly (they came with the rear shocks so I assume it was for the rear). No matter, I simply bolted them on to where the front lower shock bracket was, took it to the dunes and went gentle to rough by days end - no signs or waering or breakage. Thanks anyway to those who ansered. Happy trucking!
