Front Quad Shock Bracket but Only 2 Shocks

Am I missing some parts here? I bought a 1995 Bronco a while ago and when I had the radius arm off I wondered what the bracket was that shares the same bolts but goes towards the front of the axle. It had a stud fixed to its face but it didn't seem to actually /do/ anything. While looking something else up in my reference CD I see that it is the mount for the front shock in a quad-shock setup.

When I was looking it over before I bought it I looked into the wheel well, saw only one shock each side and figured that was that, but now I am not so sure. Did Ford put that bracket on ALL the Broncos or just the ones with the Quad shock option? If this really was originally a quad shock truck then do I need to get it back to two each side when I replace the shocks? Shocks are next on the list anyway.

Does the spring/shock tower have a place to mount a shock in forward of the spring like it does after it?

No, I looked at it last it night and the tower is only the single. I wonder why Ford decided that all trucks get the lower bracket & stud whether or not there was going to be a mount on the top end. Maybe it was just to make getting the radius arm even more of a pain to work with >

Mine is quad all the way around....drives like a bob-tail truck. Took off a set in the front and a set in the back. Now it drives like a truck should.

ford did it because it was cheaper and faster to engineer, make and install one bracket instead of 2 seprate brackets for this.

I have never seen a bronco with 4 shocks on the rear axle from the factory.

Ford didn't put them on all trucks . None of my 94-95-96 have then unless quad set up. They may have been using up parts. Or the front end was plowed and replaced with quad parts .
It doesn't matter When you go to replace Coils shocks just get the quad spring buckets and bolt on. I'd check another truck with quad to see if the mount is shock first.

Good luck LOST
