Question intermittent "check engine"

'94 B-4000 with 113,000 miles. After driving 20-30 minutes, the check engine light will come on under any load more than flat road. The truck was bought a couple months ago to be used to pull a 14' single axle trailer with mower (about 2500 lbs.). I've written about it before and the spark knock advice seems to have worked (sea-foam, new EGR, other fuel treatments). This truck pulls the load but not like I think it ought to. Does the computer store the code? I can get the light to come on but as soon as I lighten up off the load, it will eventually go out (before a mechanic could hook up a diagnostic). Where do I start?

Check your codes.

You can do this yourself. I think there is a sticky on top of the forum.

Welcome to FTE!

You can pull the codes on your EEC-IV system yourself using a test lamp or an analog meter:

http://www.thorssell.net/hbook/eectest.html

Or if you prefer, you can watch the CHECK ENGINE light and count the blinks:

(The EEC Test plugs on your '94 Ranger should be up near the firewall)
