my family has always been very high pro miliatary. every generation the males have done their thing , be it 1 hitch or more. full active or reserve. always on the water, navy or coast gaurd.
Well today we had super news. my oldest nephew had up and traded sides. water for boots and enlisted in the marines. to start when school ends for high school. goes in in July
Well his grades in school. collage pretests and Marine admission .put him into annapolis as a full commisioned officer trainie . the first in our family.
now i wonder what it will be like with a jarhead officer around. instead of just a cpo .
HO-RAH rayan
Congratulations! Lots of military here too. My dad (Lt.Col. USAF ret.), my son is in the Navy (can't say where), and my daughter has just been accepted at West Point.
to me it's the thrill of our first commisioned officer in the family. and a jar head to boot.
congrats to you daughter for making the grade to one of the best schools any where .
now what year will that army-navy game be so we can't help lead them on.
Great schools for any child to have on a job back ground profile. the best our nation can offer any one.
As to the game how can any proamerican forget a great day watching the army /navy game. better then proball in my mind anyway.
My wife (my daughter's step-mother) tells me the look on my face was "priceless" when she announced her choice of schools. I suppose I was expecting something closer to home (Tulsa), but we're excited for her nonetheless. Annapolis is one of "the best of the best" also, and I wish your nephew well. Go Army! Go Navy! Just remember- he might be the jarhead lifer, but you're the UNCLE!
thanks ernie.
ryan has me so dame proud to be his uncle. and finally my family gets a commisioned officer.guess i'll get my butt kicked a few times as this kid is really into it. lifer no doubt in my mind.
as to the school how can any one say west point, annapolis, A.F. in boulder. or even coast guard in new london don't give a kid the best of the best they can get. all by just giving back 6 years. not that to many don't stay in a lot longer. it's more like 20 years or untill they have to. he's the first in my family to wear combat boots.instead of a life jacket
Hey, congrats Charlie! Good to hear that. It's always good to see someone you know, especially family, get accepted into one of the military academies. Not an easy selection process and it goes to show the caliber of person he is.
