Need Help With Front End Please????

sent the 57-66 hybrid (mutt) for a pa state inspection and was told i needed left front spindle bearings and they couldn't find them, i searched a few sites and no luck, are they calling them by the wrong name. they said it would be like tie rod ends, is that what they are listed under? its a 66 4x4 chassis and any help would be very appreciated really want to get this thing rolling legally also anybody know where i can get complete e-brake hardware setup including arms and spreaders? that one might be a another battle, they said it was required for insp.

Where are you located in PA? Garbz2 is in Hazleton, and he is an expert in this, both the 4x4 Slicks and PA inspection issues. He only has internet access during the week, though.

The spindle bearing is a small bushing on the older trucks that holds the outer yoke(that goes into the hub) centered in the spindle bore. I don't understand the reference to the tie rod end at all. They are not in the same part of the truck.(except the front)
What rear axle assembly do you have??

garbz2 pm box is full was gonna leave him contact info if he could help hazleton is quite drivable if he has parts available near him. this garage is confusing me since tie rod ends and ball joints are listed on numerous sites for a 66 4x4. anyone got any ideas there? e- brake hardware is bigger worry now, can't find parts for that other than cables sorry if i was confusing about front/rear issues, probs everywhere and this garage doesn't seem accustomed to classics, but i want the beast right for the road, and i still love this truck!!!!

I think the Dana 44 front axle an enclosed knuckle type that uses a trunnion bearing top and bottom instead of a ball joint. Is that perhaps what they are refering to?

I would think any 9" rear with the same diameter rear brake shoes could donate the e-brake parts. It might mean hitting your favorite junk yard to find all the pieces, some are not available new.

ok trunnion bearing is what they are referring to, anyone know where i can get replacements or if i can swap in 79 axles without to much fab? found a donor truck for 500 can get good axles with 3.73s and power brake as well as e-brake research told me it is a ford 9 inch rear and dana 44 front but steering? width? this would also give me disc fronts, correct? 66 is leaf front so mounting shouldn't be that bad right?

The Trunnion bearings should be available at your local parts house, You may need to talk to a old school parts man how knows what a trunnion bearing is. lol But I replace mine not to long ago and did not have any problem getting them.

same parts as Bronco

several years ago I rebuilt my front end (66 f100 4x4). The bearings are available from any Bronco oriented shop. The seal and cap used to preload them has been discontinued by ford about the time i was doing mine. I was also able to get them from a Bronco shop also..
