I'm a new member, and a novice under the hood. My truck stalled the other day, it would not re-start. After some basic trouble-shooting, went to the parts store. the following items have been replaced or were with in specs:
Ignition coil
Ignition module
Ignition switch
the plugs, wires, cap and rotor are all new as well. i still have no spark, the starter gets power, the collision switch is reset, and there is gas in the tank.
I'm at a loss guys, would really appreciate any help.
Thanks, the distributor is all set, still no spark though. Not sure what else it could be, gets power to the coil, but no power coming out. starting to think the new coil might not be working. not sure what else to do. does anyone have any other suggestions?
OK, here's a primitive coil test: disconnect all the wires from the coil. Hook up a temporary hot wire (A) from the battery to the coil + terminal. Attach another wire (B) to a ground near the coil. Ground the high voltage wire (from the coil.) Hold the ungrounded end of the high voltage wire half inch above where it plugs into the coil. While you are holding it there, take the grounded wire, (B) and tap it on the -terminal of the coil. You should get a spark jump to the high voltage wire if the coil is good.
