Nascar has been going down the toilet since the 60s, when they put everybody down to a 358cid engine under the claim of reducing speed. Ford's cammer 427, dodge's good hemis and modified wedge engines, and pontiac's big blocks were kicked out in favor of a chevy design small block.
I find no joy in watching roundy-round races anymore, I go for F1, rally cars, and off road races now.
You make a good point, and I like the idea. Where can I watch these other races? Particularly the off road races, that sounds interesting.
lol.
Yeah I don't think it's going downhill. I don't think limiting to 4 is unfair, either. 4 is too high to me, if they didn't limit it, people would keep going, eventually it does get a little unfair.
So hey, it's their business (as in their money), so they can do whatever they want, they couldn't care less what we (or the drivers) want, so what the heck, let 'em screw it up and make big bucks.
Or nascar could just frankly set a limit on wind tunnel test time
Heck, some of these owners have their own smaller wind tunnels that they can place scale models in. . . 4 is still a mega team. . . It should be three. But the Frances have always been after Jack.
I'm not really surprised, since Gordon and Earnhardt Junior didn't qualify for Chace for the cup - they had to do something. This way they have better chances next year.
This was posted on jayski's site - source is listed as ESPN:
"Roush officials were told in a recent private meeting with NASCAR that a "grandfather clause" would be included to allow them to keep their five teams at least through the 2009 season. All of their current contracts with sponsors and drivers at least run through then, but what happens when those deals expire remains somewhat murky."
Its just about to the point where nascar is going to start to loose people, they have about topped out and them making these stupid rules do not make people want to watch it. When they allow a Toyota car in the field then i am going to stop watching and i dont even really watch it much now. also if no one expresses their opinon on the problems with nascar, how are they to know what we like and do not?? if enough people speak they will have no choice but to listen.
Speed has most of those races, you need to check their website for times, though, since the don't announce them beforehand. OLN has some of the CORR races.
I am looking for and address for nascar where i can write to them and express how unhappy i am about the way the sport is being ran and the direction it is taking. they just put a limit on how many cars a team can field and the limit is 4. Roush has 5 and no one else fields 5 cars. Doesn't that sound odd?? when all of roushes drivers are in the chase, he cant help his drivers can drive and no one elses can. the other team that even comes closest is hendrick with 4 cars and they are chevs. still sounds funny to me, like its a little favoritism. they have turned nascar into a sissy sport.

If they ever allow a Toyota car in, I'll be gone to. Or a Honda. That is a disgrace.
Toyota to Cup in 2007? 8 teams? UPDATE: Toyota will support eight Nextel Cup teams when its cars make their debuts in 2007, but none of them is likely to be from Ganassi Racing, which all along figured to be part of the Toyota contingent. Toyota Racing Development will support four Penske Racing squads and two each from Bill Davis Racing and Michael Waltrip Racing. Davis and Waltrip will be partners in 2006, then turn their attention to Toyota.(Sporting News)(10-3-2005)
UPDATE: however, as was reported in the past and reinterated today.....Walter Czarnecki, vice chairman of Penske Racing, says Penske Racing's contract with Dodge extends beyond 2007.(10-3-2005)
Honda and NASCAR: Although Honda has not made formal inquiries with NASCAR, certain engineers in the garage have been approached about a program that would begin in 2010.(Sporting News) and with Penske switching to Honda in the IRL.......(11-1-2005)
What if Rousch and one or two other big name teams like Hendricks, Gibbs, or DEI
say they have had enough with NASCAR and start thier own Series...
They could take the 5 or 10 drivers that sell 95% of the tickets and leave France out in the cold.
I'm sure theres enough racetracks in the country that France doesnt control to make for an interesting schedule.
There's already a hint that things may not all be well, since NBC hasn't renewed for next year.
Has anybody seen the "car of the future"? It looks like they welded a current hood and trunk to the cab of my '79 pickup. UUUUGLY! Oh- they're not gonna fit in the haulers, either. Featherlight's gotta love that
Well, once again NASCAR finds a way to put down the best race team ever, Jack Roush Racing...NASCAR has always had a ****** for J.Roush, and this just proves it. It would be easy to just form another team, under a differant name and have as many teams as they want, but that would be like the way big corporations do business. is that waht NASCAR is pushing them towards doing? I think that Hendrik's and Childress are just jealous and are crying to NASCAR to give them an edge...like they always do...Chevy has always been NASCAR's favourite, evan when Bill France , and Bill France jr were in charge...
Besides, evan tho the Craftsman Truck series doesnt get the TV coverage the "CUP" does, it is still more fun to watch...and there are toyota's there....just more competition!!!
