9 inch diff. axle housing welded...

My axle housing on my 76 has a crack that was repaired (welded - previous owner) on the top of the tube.. I think this is leaking... Should I grind the old weld down and weld it back up, or am I wasting my time and I should just get another whole housing and swap my diff in..?

you can grind it down and re weld it but be careful not to get axle tube to hot it will warp had it happen to a friend good luck bad 78 f 250
