ashtray light
It looks like a empty aluminium bullet casing with a teenie weenie hole on the side near the pointy end.
It has a clip you have to squeeze (like a clothes peg)to the end of which fit into a square hole in the bracketry.
How's that?
You don't a picture after a description like that do you?

You can go to the gunk yard and get the bulb holder that lights the wiper and headlight ****, it will fit. I think you may have to take a dremel to it and cut a hole in the side that will face the ash tray.

The socket comes out of the housing, like the wiper washer/Headlamp illumination bulb does.
It's press fitted together, like a vacuum hose on a plastic nipple.
