After 105,000 miles I think it's time to replace timing chain! Does anyone know if I'll have to lower or remove the oil pan to do this job? I also plan on installing a early model 70-71 cleveland chain set, unless I hear otherwise. I beleive this will lower my powerband?
Just tilt the cover,no need to loosen pan it will come out if you are careful. If yours is a 79 I believe the cam is retarded w/OEM chain/gears.Replace with aftermarket roller or timing set for '75 400.Brian

Do you mean to buy a timing set for a 1975 400 engine? How about 'unretarding' the cam? Do you need a degree wheel for this?
