I have an 89 F150 and replaced the actuator thats connected from the key to the rod, to the ignition switch. Every thing worked until I installed the steering wheel. I heard a "pop" and now have no power to the ignition switch. I think it is a fuse, but don't know where to look. Can anyone help?
I got no power to the yellow wires on my ignition switch also
where is the power center under the hood ? I have a 89 f250

I do not think it has one, the yellow wire comes from a fuse link that is hooked to the load split in the middle of the alternator wiring shunt harness. The alternator wiring shunt harness runs from the starter solenoid to the alternator and also has a fuse link where it hooks onto the solenoid.
There are two plugs that plug into the middle of the harness, one has two 10GA yellow wires that plug into this wiring harness. After the plug and into its own harness there are two fuse links on these two yellow wires and then one goes to the ignition switch and the other goes to the head light switch.
Does your headlights come on when you pull out the ****?
The Diagram would look something like this with the load split at S106.
I would think it would be near passenger (RH) fender apron and dash panel area of the engine compartment. Reread my post above and look at the Diagram.
OK, I confess that I do not have the exact diagram of a 1989 F series truck in this area. I do know that they made a major wiring change in 1990 and added the engine compartment fuse box. Your truck is wired more like a 1987-1989 truck, I do have wiring diagrams for these years but they do not cover the area in question. The only reference I have in this area is a 1988 E150 wiring that I would think is close to how your truck is wired. That is what the above diagram is based on. Also I have a 1983 F150 wiring diagram and it is also wired this way.
