I went to change the oil on my F100 4x4 and when the plug finally came out it was horribly stripped; no threads left on the plug. I called the auto parts store and they told me it was going to be an aftermarket pan for about $180.00. Can you rethread an oil pan and if not where can I get a good pan for a reasonable price?
Any auto parts store should be able to give you a repair plug. I cant remember who made them but I used one several years ago. It was a two piece plug that required the removal of the oil pan to install the first time.
Another alternative would be, is to get a over sized drain plug. Alot of parts stores carry a line called "Help" or "motormight" Your drain plug should originally be 1/2", a single over sized part number is 65204, double oversized is a 65206 and a triple oversized is a 65207, These work pretty well. This line also supplies the plug repair kit.
Something new on the market is a plug/drain thing that screws into the hole then when it's time to drain the oil,you remove the cap and insert by threading this nozzle,as it screws up it opens the oil and out comes the oil.
It's made by Fram.It also looks cool to watch it work,no muss,no fuss
