I am new to ford trucks, but i was reading through the forums and about the 4R100 auto trans. I have a 2002 f350 auto. how do I find out what tranny I have in it or was the 4r100 the only one it came with?
Thanks in advance for any help. and sorry about a newb question.. haha. just wanna know what my truck has..
the sonnax makes the 4r100 shift like it should... quick firm shifts... help reduce clutch slipage between shifts to reduce heatbuild up and wear... this helps put the power your engine makes on the ground... and any extra power you gain from mods will be able to be used more effeciently as well... this mod helps you get more use from any other mods you do to make power...
Transgo is another good choice for trans valve body modifications. I have yet to intall it in my 4R100, but have used it in all other trucks I have had and basically it bullet proofs an automatic trans. Have never used Sonnax, but there is plenty of support.
Transgo.com and check the distributor list. I am sure you can find it in S. Texas. Another is Summitracing.com and they might be cheaper. Look at the Transgo website and get an idea of their product. My favorite trans mechanic recommends them.
I have done one kit by myself and others I have had done. It is not to hard requires some knowledge of mechanics and it can be pretty messy. There are usually pretty good instructions with the kits. Read over them carefully before starting the project. This will give you an idea if you are up to the task.
