Hi
Nothing to do with my 80 truck, but looking for info on 64--260's. This is in my 64 Falcon and new to old fords I want to know what motors will replace this. It is a C30E -6015b and above that on the block is A3A.. the motor mount holes are 7' apart I believe it is the original motor but it is toast. I do want to keep the 3 speed standard trans. It is a 5 bolt bellhousing as well. How new of a motor will fit this combo
Thanks
Ron
64 was last year for 5 bolt bell,.you may have trouble finding a 5 bolt 289.newer 289 302 are a drop in but you will need the 65 up trans.your 64 trans will not fit 65 6 bolt bell.ford made a lot of changes in 65 on all models.the 260 had a lot thicker cylinders than 289 i once bored one to 289 and it lived.i dont suggest you do it .it may have been just luck it lasted.
one thing more i should add i read some u.s. modles had the new type tranny before 65.just measure the 2 top bolt holes in your tranny.they are about 5 1/2 inches apart on the early model.on the later ones its about 8 1/2 inches.
There are also adapters available to mate the early trans to the later engine/bellhousing(6 bolt style). I used one in a '65 Mustang when the 5 bolt 289 went kerput and I had a 6 bolt bell 289 available.
