i discovered its not a california limited, the tailights are the standard 'stang. i'm still gonna do her up real nice tho, i just need a shop to put her in, or just a building, but it looks like i'll be *fabbing* this one myself. i'm gonna make my dad pull that car out of there so i can work on her... i've decided not to start it right away... i need to do some things first, like assess the wiring condition and find a starter that will bolt up to it. but on a more techincal note it has either a 170 or 200 i6 in it with 120 on the speedo, a c4 cruise-o-matic. i think the motor should still run fine, but i don't want to subject it compression afer it sitting there for so long... but i would love to hear her start up and putter to life.. even just for a second... you've put my heart back into this man, i had given up hope on it after my 17th birthday. i'm gonna try to do as much of it myself as i can. i have a feeling i'll do this right i've got the books on it and i've got brothers with the know how. its caused insomina because i'm so interested in it again...
sorry for the long rant, oh and btw i found those pics you were looking for.. to show me the diff between a calif. limited and a stock one.. but one thing that strikes me as curious is why it had california limited on the title?? i'll go get the vin in the next couple days *soon as old leaky* my truck gets out of the shop. i mite have it as early as tomorrow.. i'll be on here bout 8 am to see if anything new has arrisen for me to see, thanx again!

Hi, the 68 was a nice looking car almost identical to mine except it had side lights if it is a six cylinder it should be a 200 Don't count that thing out soak the cylinders with a little wd40 for a couple of days then turn it over with no plugs in it. make sure it picks up oil pressure if all is good try to fire it. the one I gave to my son sat for 15 years and fired in about 30 minutes of playing after the wd40 dose. I had to put in points and condenser then it went right off runs a little rough needs the carb taken apart and cleaned but the 200 is a spunky little engine ran real well in the mustang the car is light doesn't need a lot of engine. Just take your time rebuilding it and enjoy yourself. If you have any questions just hollar more than likely I've been through it with one of the two I have...

just a couple questions... i'm gonna replace the front seats... i don't think i'm gonna go back to stock with it, i'm thinking about getting the front buckets out of a 73 mach 1? goood idea or no? i planned on using the I6, not much motor but like you said the car is light and i don't need something that uses more fuel than a frieghtliner runnin' up and down the road *i'll leave that to my truck * i just want to have a classic because all you see running around this town is the new wannabe mustangs, some fox bodies *hey now don't get me wrong i love those*. i just want to be unique, also the car doesn't have very much rust except for in the places i said earlier, the hood and truck.. the fenders and doors all seem to be rather intact, tomorrow i'm gonna move it from its hiding spot and start trying to free up the motor. i've got to go get the ignition kit and all should take me bout 2 weeks to know if the motor is gonna run. oh btw the starter got removed a few years back... will a 302 starter fit it or do i have to buy a new one? i was thinking the starter for the 302 is bigger and wouldn't work, but i'm gonna try and line it up to see if it will. sorry for being so long winded, but i'm a fanatic and just like every good fanatic i guess i deserved my rant. oh found a good mustang website... Stangnet.com if you wanna go look

Hi, I have seen where they are putting fox bodied seats in the old mustangs much more comfortable just use your tracks and redrill the back hole in the seat. The 302 starter won't fit has to have the 200 starter the hood is 149.00 with turn signal holes(does yours have turn signals in the hood?)thru mustangs unlimited. Just brought my baby back home and now it's raining on it!!!! the paint came out awesome!!! looks just like the new one, now we have a pair of opal frost stangs in the driveway will post pictures as soon as I can. Another good site for mustangs is vintage mustangs they have a forum like we do here really good people and also a classified section. If you sign up over there let me know what your name is mine is i967mustang.

LAST EDITED ON 18-Mar-01 AT 00:10 AM (EST)[p]Sounds like an idea, i finally got my car *unearthed* from its hiding spot *kinda embarassing it took a 454 dually to move it* anyway i was thinking of using the fox chassis seats anyway or some out of a mercury sedan i have, but i don't really want to go for the all out comfort because these cars were meant to feel the road, i'm also thinking of doing the front disc conversion, but i don't see the need for it, disc brakes maybe safer than a conventional drum, but most of the vehicles i drive only have front brakes, the rears for some reason just lose fluid like the bleeder valves are open but arent anyway, thats a different subject. appreciate the info. btw on vintage mustangs my id is desperado18
Hi, not only do the newer seats give more comfort they have alot more support They have lateral supportbuilt right in I know when I turn a corner in my car I feel like I could slide right out of the seat god forbid if you went fast you would be in the passenger seat!!!! but my wifes car feels so much better with the support and they look nicer too.
