NEED HELP QUICK 6.9 no mods !!!
Okay guys the boy was driving home tonight after work said the truck started to make alot of rattling noises he couldn't get it over 45 mph drove about 6 miles and it overheated and shutdown. When I got there had plenty of oil,no water hence overheating. The engine was warm when I got there but the radiator was cold. Could not get it to fire, it turns over. I'm at a loss being new to diesels.Any advise would be greatly appreciated and praised. Thanks Bill

How well does it turn over? If it turns real easy, head gaskets are way toasted. If he heated it real bad, it may mean bad heads now as well. It may have leaked all to coolant out somewhere, so the radiator wouldn't have anything in it. The basic diagnosis will be the same as a gas as far as mechanical, the only difference is the ignition and fuel delivery.
