Something for the board or tech folder???

I busted my power mirror off this morning, and it has been replaced. I told them to throw the busted one in the bed.

SOOOOO....

I have access to the insides, its broke in a few spots. It is also open. I didnt know if anyone here could use detailed pics of it in case someone wanted to replace theirs or see how it mounts, the tabs inside, wires, LED's, whatever. I havent checked so i dont know if there is already something like this on the site.

power mirror parts

I have a 2005 F250 with extendable tow mirrors. I want to remove the back of the mirrors to add some strobes. I was told that the tabs holding the mirror cover are made to break when removing. How can I remove the mirror cover without breaking the tabs so I can add my strobes and replace the covers?

I will look at it again when i get home. They do not break when you remove them. At least, on my old cover, they are not broken. You have to use a small screwdriver to push them over their tabs, which lock them in. They are tight, and they will require some effort to pop the tabs loose. I will take a pic for you so you can see the tabs before you start messing with it. That way, you will have an idea of what it is your trying to do.

I'd be interested in those pictures also. I have to take mine apart as both will not turn in. They work out and up and down but not in.

Allright guys. I hope these are helpful. In the second pic, you can see the tabs you are trying to work with. There are three, and those holes 'lock' around the 'male' tab in the main mirror housing. You will have to manipulate your mirror such that you can get a small screw driver in to push those tabs down and over the 'male' part. I think you can see what i mean by looking at the third pic. That arrow shows how you need to push the tab. Now on the lower left locking tab, you will end up pushing the tab UP, not down like in the top two. However, if you get the top two unhooked, then you probably wont need to do the bottom one as it will sort of unlock itself once the back gets loose.

Hope this helps.
