Here is the 'fix' for the rough 3-2 down shift. I actually had a rough 1-2 upshift and been great since. Took it to dealer in August with a copy of the tsb, complained about rough 1-2 upshift. Reflashed cured it, been great since. I have an 05 Lariat - build 01/05.
Just had the slip yoke lube done for a snapping/popping sensation when taking off from a stop. Very pronounced when cold. Would do it multiple times on take off. It helped at first but I think it is slowly returning, bummer. Will speak to same tech next time, great dealership and I think we found the source since the lube did quiet it down, maybe bad splines ??
Anyway, here is the tsb to correct your shift points :

Hope they don't edit another one of my posts, it only happens on this forum site, and we are only trying to help eachother out !
They finally decided to put clutch packs in mine. Ive noticed the same thing from my tranny too, I may ask them to do a PCM update. I bet they look at me like im crazy though. When I described the rear end shimmy to them, they looked at me like I was talking greek. Its not like there is a service bulletin on it or anything. I dont get it.
Guess Ill just keep driving it.....
04Char, can you just spell out the TSB again, the actual code for this? It seems a little jumbled in that post and I'd like to be specific when i bring it in for service in 2 weeks. That's an awesome find you got there.
Side note, i can't seem to sign up for that site, the webpage keeps hanging. Anybody else successfully signed up recently?
TSB is : 05-10-12 HARSH 3-2 DOWNSHIFT BETWEEN 17-25 MPH - NO DTCS - 4R75E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. ISSUED 2005-05-30
If you send me your email address, I will send you the pdf as an attachment. It's not very detailed but I can tell you, I had a real bad 'slamming' from 1st to 2nd under light acceleration, it would make you cringe. Felt like the trans was bad. Did not happen all the time though. Also had this clunk when coasting and hit the gas. Amazing what a reflash that resets your shift points will do, been perfect ever since...
And on Infotraxx, great site, I joined it when I bought the 04 fx4, and now, for the 05. They just release a tsb for this annoying 'clicking' noise from my steering column at slow speeds that described my problem exactly. Will take that one in next service. Keep trying, it is worth it.

I have a 04 Screw FX4 which developed the clunk on take off at 14,000 miles and I was told to drive it because I had plenty of warrenty left. Well, at 29,000 miles I had them look at it and all they did was grease something and the clunk went away for about 4,000 miles and then it returned. By now the rearend had developed a howling noise, so I took it to another dealership and they replaced the clutch packs and ring-n-pinion. So far it seems fixed with 35,xxx miles on it. I have had the truck 13 months and other than the rearend it has been the best truck I have owned and ridden in.
