I bought a metal dector from a Kid who'd become a Paraplegic and needed money.
I didn't need that MD at all. Finally I found it useful locating Aluminum arrows with it
This one wont find a nickel laying in the grass, or a nail, unless it's a large one.
I've looked at those multi-thousand dollar MD's and decided I didn't have a use for that either.
It's said that we have Civil War relics around here. Some of those Belt buckles are valuable.
But I'm not digging into any old Out houses or Dumps.
What MD to you have? What have you found?
PS: I dont believe in Dowsing. Snake oil!
I actually started with a White's Spectrum XLT which ran me about $500 a couple years ago. Sold that particular unit to finance a summer of drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon in the mountains. I had about $475 left after the summer, so I went out and bought a Bounty Hunter Fasttracker which seems to do everything the White's did. I find alot of older coins and stuff like that. I'm more into bottle digging at dumps I find....
A guy from Arizona was into bottle digging. He'd come up with some old 35MM film strips of plats in his local area.
He bought my Film strip reader and went on the hunt. He really liked that "Flea Market" life, with all the stuff he dug up.
WHat about those $110 Dollar MD's that WalMart sells? WIll they find stuff down into the ground about Six inches or so?
What can we use for under water searching?

Walmart sells repacked Bounty Hunters in my area. I have used my Bounty Hunter on coin sized items up to six inches in depth. My White's would go slightly deeper, but not enough to make up the $350 difference in price.
I've got a Tesoro and mess around the yard quite a bit. Especially where Dad parks his trucks. Every time he digs his keys out of his pocket, he seems to drop some coins. This summer up in the Uintas, I found a military button with an eagle on it.I researched the name of the manufacturer stamped on the back of it and the button was made in Waterbury CT. around 1850 to 1860.
It was for a Union Army enlisted man. Must have come west to work as I found it at site that was once "tie" camp for the Trans Continental Railroad. At least I thought it was kinda neat.
