I have been searching but can not find info on this year. Maybe it is just me... Anyway, door sticker lists axle code as "37J". Can ANYBODY tell me anything about it? I believe it has to be either a D60 or D70 but don't know for sure. Also would like to know the gear ratio!
VIN is X25SK087598;
Wheel Base is 155;
COLOR is "H";
TYPE/G.V.W. is "X257;
BODY is "MUM";
TRANS is "G";
MAX GVWR LBS. is "07050"; and
D.S.O. is "1977 23"
I looked at your site and for Pickup Code 141 it lists GVWR as 6300 lbs.
My '77 F150 4x4 has the 141 code, but lists the GVWR as 6150 on the door tag. Any Idea on this?
Also my rear axle code is 16J, denoting that it has a 3.50 geared axle with power steering. What trips me is the fact that your link reads axle code 16 as having a 3700 lb. rating, while my door tags reads 3580 lbs. Any ideas about this?
Sorry for all the ?'s. Just was wondering what the difference is. The axle tag is still there, but covered heavily in gunk. I have to take it off to clean it properly before I can read it.
I just realized that the info in your link is for '78 model year trucks. Mine is a '77 with a build date of 02/77. Could Ford have upped the weight ratings from '77 to '78?
