I'm putting in a fresh 302, mildly "hot rodded" motor in my old 74 F-100. The worn out motor has a copper tube bolted to each head at the firewall that carries exaust gasses. It had a third leg that looks like it went to the intake, ERG or air cleaner at one time but it is severed and pinched off. I don't believe that it is needed but I would feel reassured if someone could tell me its function was/is. Thanks, JG
I plugged my 460's tubes up and it looks a lot better; there is a special plug that seals that port permanently. Make sure your state smog laws allow it.
Checked new motor last night and the holes are already tapped 5/8-11 and I bought a couple plugs at the hardware store and put them in place with RTV on the threads. Thanks.
