The opposite problem

I took my heads off the first time due to oil in the water. Every one else seems to have water in the oil. I have had the heads checked over and the person that checked them out said he say evidence of the head gasket not being torqued properly.

Now I don't know if a person can look at the gasket and tell this but he gave the heads the all clear. What else should I be looking for when I get the truck up and running?

Thanks.

If you use the Perma torque gaskets from Fel Pro I don't think you will have problems. They do not require retorqueing.

was this person a machinist? if you blew your head gasket i think normally you gotsta get em checked to see if they are warped, most of the time you should have them milled. as for people haveing water in your oil thats not supposed to happen and is usually bad. they can leak if they are not tightened properly. if this is a reocurring problem i would definitely get them checked out. when you get it up and running you know your head gaskets gone cause youll see a whiteish bad smelling smoke pour out the exhaust pipe, sluggish engine and whitish watery oil on your dipstick.

just my two cents--
nick.

What motor is it? Would it happen to be a FE 352/360/390/428? The FEs sometimes crack an oil galley that will leak into the cooling system. The only fix is to tear down the motor and bore and sleeve the galley. Do a search in the FE engine board, it's been discussed before.
