Sad but true...........I have a Peterbuilt with a Cat that has over 1500#'s of torque. I hooked up to a F150 with a 4.9 I6.........that SOB pulled me around like I was a red headed step-child.
Since then I have removed every V8 and V10 I own and replaced 'em with the 300 I-6.
I'm currently working on a Mustang Boss 429 clone that will run the straight six!!!
Does anyone know were I can buy more I-6's.........there getting scarce around here; apparently the USAF @ area 51 bought 'em all up to repower the space ships tha have crashed over the years.

Humor is good. When it is at the expense of others who may have other ideas of engine performance objectives and who have fun in ways we may question, it is simply mean.
And, by the way you can buy an I-6 300 Ford engine (probably as many as you want) that produces more than one horse per cubic inch - 325 horses at the crank and 450 lbs. of torque here:
Nah, DOHC is just foolin' around Armada. At least that's the way I take it. I could'int help myself actually...lol, some days you just gotta unwind at other people's expense...lol. About the rudest thing going on here is that so far we've all highjacked this thread - but I think DOHC's post was hilarious, and kind of a way of letting byegones be byegones so to speak.
For what it's worth- that's one friggen bad assed 300 you posted in that link.
Ok from here out- only posts about hookin em up - turning thread over to you 88 .

No prob. Lets hear some pulling stories! But I agree with DOHC that we ought to stay clear of the wild stuff that can't be backed up. No stories that "my tricycle pulled your dump truck."
Haa! my 78 F250 with a 300 NP
88 chevy 2500 350 5 spd 2wd. I drug him like a trailer liturely
98 Dodge 318 auto ext cab 2wd it was a little bit more pull than they chevy but not much.
Could be an auto is better?
Never hooked to anything that I was sure I could not drag AKA pete w/ Cat. 1 ton dually 4x4 crew F350 PSD ranch hand bumper replacements and a full diesel tank in the bed. Ya know wouldn't want to embarrass those suckers with my mighty 300
my friends 85 f250 6.9 2wd 4sp pulled a 6.5 chevy 4x4
that was banksed up the !@#$%^&*
still not much competion but hey
i got an stock 89 f150 4x4 5sp should i pull a early 90's dakota 4x4 auto?
I would say go for it. You weigh more, he has autotranny you have stick, you probably have more power than he does unless he has 318 and you have 302, but if that is the case he will spin more there for you can just walk away with him, your higher than him you will pull up on his rearend. All in all I would put my money on you.
If its an eary 90s dakota the 302 has way more grunt than the 318 of that era. I've own both. 85' (actualy an 86') F150 with the MPFI 302 and a 92 dodge with the 318. The dodge couldn't get out of its own way. I was extremely disappointed because I had heard all the hype about the Magnum 318 and 360. Well the only thing Mangnum was the how many times I had to turn the steering wheel to get into my driveway. Not to get off the subject but everything about the 85' f150 was ahead of that 92' dodge. the trans wasn't even comparable, motors again weren't comparable, even things like steering and ride the ford was more refined. The newer dodges have made leaps and bounds from those old square bodied dodges. JFYI I sold the dodge after less than a year bought my ol F150 back from my dad who upgraded to a 96' F150(this was in 97'). Funny thing is we both own heavy duty trucks now with a V10 and a 460. talking about quite a jump from those 302 f150s, lol.
Back to topic, 89300L6 go for it, just remember you may want to consider what could break, sometimes all the glory in the world doesn't make up for a broken truck. I do beleive you'd walk all over him though. Sorry guys no pulling storys here!

Are you serious? Every 302 powered truck I have driven was a turd. A customer of mine has a 91 D150 2Wd with a 318, and that thing hauls butt.
The day I drove my '85 F-250 4x4 home my buddy was giving me **** about it. See, she's not the prettiest truck around but with a 6.9 and auto tranny she's a pulling machine. So I told him to meet me at the road and we hooked them up. I pulled his chevy 1500 4x4 auto with 4.3 all over the place. My truck didn't even grunt, she just went. My brother said it looked like my buddy was in neutral except for the fact that his tires were spinning. I wasn't impressed with that chevy, I've had hopper wagons put up a lot better fight pulling than that truck did. At least I though him some respect for Ford.
