radio static

94 bronco 351...truck has the stock am-fm cd radio just started to pick up static only on the lower fm frequencys...the higher frequencys (over 100) all sound clear...checked everything i could and all connections look clean and tight...while checking cable for antenna found a splice off it that ran up the pass. side piller between windshild and door under the molding and was covered by some foam insulation dident remove the foam cause i dont know what its there for..any ideas...sooo what to check next...would like to know what this (extra ant wire is for and why just static on the lower fm frequencys...mabey just a bad ant or the radio is starting to go........thanks

are there any holes in the cab roof? Maybe someone fitted an extra antenna on the roof at some point?

Seems a bit strange to me!

I wasn't aware they had CD available in '94. The last Bronco I saw with that spliter had the factory hand held CB option. Never really paid any attention to where it went becuase the hand unit and the radio had already been changed out.
