Ya man, I'd hate to see you have to take the head off. I have not dealt with this personally but i bet it is extremely crappy. If you want some help just let me know, I can offer another set of hands. By the way, welcome to FTE!
Be careful if you choose the start/shoot option. You will most likely have a hole in your shop. This could be very dangerous but effective. You may want to remove the hood and valve cover and do it in a big field that way nobody gets shot. LOL
Good luck and keep PB blasting it, twisting and soaking.
You know I made a slide tool with a set of vise grips recently. I removed the bolt from the back of the vise grips and replaced it witha long piece of all thread. Then slide something heavy on there and put a big washer and nut on the other end.
Now you can clamp the vise grips on the GP and slam it out of there.
Well back on the right ide of the pond, went back at it with bp blaster, still stuck. Maybe someone come by and help take hood off so i can get right over it and pull, like your idea Neal, like a slide hammer, think this might be next step.
Ok got some free time to work on stuck glowplug,I talked to tech's. at shop i'm gonna take it to.They said keep doing what I'm doing and plug it in overnight and see if get's hot enough to loosen carbon, any ideas if this will work the ###### is ###### stuck good and they want almost 2 grand to pull head, and that's for one side, haven't done driver side yet! Honestly afraid to,they don't want to pull head either unless last resort!
I have had to replace the glow plug solenoid twice now in the last 8 months in my 96 F-250, 7.3l turbo diesel power stroke. My glow plugs are brand new since I thought they were bad. It still wasn't starting. When I tested it with the screwdriver it fired right up. I am tired of buying the box so I wanted to wire it to a switch in my dash but am not sure how to do it. (The current solenoid box that is in it is bad and I don't want to replace it with a new one). Any suggestions?
ok so heres my problem ive posted on another thread my truck (95) cranks but wont start. its about 80 degrees outside this week so def not a cold start. the glowplugs check out but the gpr didnt so i transplanted the gpr to my dads 97 and it tests fine what else is there i need to check and this possibly my no start problem evn though its like 80 some degrees out.
zombie, an easy test is to jump the 2 large lugs on your GPR. that'll send power to the GP's. if she cranks up after having the lugs jumped for about 10 seconds, then thats your problem. my 99, i dont have to wait for the GP's to warm up in 80 degree weather, but the ol 95 might need it. it might also be that in the couple seconds of cranking on the 99 it still gets the plugs hot enough to fire. good luck to ya, also starting a new thread might get more attention then adding to a new one.
OK, I've been out of the mechanic game for a while and I need to help a freind out. When he turns his key on the GPR kicks in and heats up the plugs and the engine will run, however, the relay wont kick off and the metal tab that goes to the modual will start to smoke! Any thoughts? I'm assuming the modual is bad. Does anyone have a wire diagram of the relay. I want to make sure it's wired correctly as some "person" already replaced it once.

But the mention of "metal tab" and "modual" (I presume you mean "module") implies that maybe it's a California truck. That diagram doesn't appear to include the CA truck diagram. In any event, the GPR should shut off after no more than two minutes. Does it eventually shut off when you turn the key off?

Yes it does shut off when the key is turned off. Seems like a timer issue, just wanted to make sure before I replace it
