Problem with transfer case
I have a 1976 ford f-150 with a np203 transfer case. It has been converted to part-time now and if I don't hold back on the shifter it sounds like gears grinding and wants to engage. It does this from a stand still and somtimes when I am just driving down the road. Is there a rebuild kit I can get or what is the best thing I should do to fix this problem. Is this an easy thing to fix myself or do I need to have a mechanic fix and spend lots of money. The transfer case only has low lock and high lock. I think that is all I know, if anyone has an answer for me I would appreciate it.

I would like to hear more about these conversion kits.Costs,who makes it,difficulty of installtion,durability etc.I have a 78 F-150 with a 203.Eventually I would like to swap it for a 205 when I can afford it.In the mean time I been considering the conversion kit.

sounds like an unfinished job?
I believe its more than just installing lockouts to make it a part time 4x, I think theres a pin that needs installed in the T/C to complete the process, its sounds like yours is missing? or malfunctioning?
