I need to butt weld in a floor repair on the 49. I like to finish on two sides if possible. I am looking for some Cleco clips, new or used. Not the ones requiring a drilled hole for an over lapping flange seam but the thin (at the joint) ones for positioning to do butt welds. Eastwood has them but they are a little pricey. Anyone bought or want to sell some?
You might call Brown Aviation Tool Supply co - www.browntool.com - and ask. I bought some side grip clecos for $2 ea there, and some standard clecos for 35 cents ea. I didn't see what you wanted but they may stock them anyway.
The clips I use I purchased from Harbor Freight. They look just like the ones in the Eastwood catalog, but a bag of them, approx 6, was less than ten dollars. They fasten from one side with a wing nut, and you need access to the back side to insert a small piece of bar stock which completes the clamp. I've seen them in catalogs for $25.00 and higher.
Hey rhopper-
I tried to find them on Harbor Freight's website but had no luck. Do you know what HF calls them so I can do a search? I remembered them being a decent price but couldn't find them listed. Thanks.
