I'm the one who should apologize - Sorry about the way I came across! My only excuse is too many hi-stress hours at work yesterday before I touched the keyboard.
The picture really helps. If the head is original it is a garden-variety Ford flathead so it would be 239 cu in. I see you have the extra capacity oil filter - exclusive to Canada apparently and some guys report it is hard to find filters for.
The wiper/visor thing has to do with trim levels. Ford's basic cab was pretty spartan - one visor, one wiper, etc. The link below should give you some more ideas about how fancy your truck was when new. Lots of optional equipment. By 51/52 Ford added a 'deluxe' package that bundled many of the options.
You might check with Ford of Canada for vin details on your truck. Canada has much better records than we do and they can probably supply you with a build sheet.
The deer really did a number on the front corner. Good luck with it and don't hesitate to ask questions - just grab a 2x4 and hit me along side the head next time
I really prefer the short bed F-1's, but it'd be nice to have a side mount spare like that --- really looks cool! Were all F-2's-up like that? Or is that an aftermarket set-up?
My 50 F3 had a side mount spare. Appeared to have been added by the original owner by drilling the bed side for a bolt and clearancing the fender with a sledge hammer. Fixed now.
