Been off this board for awhile, bought a bike and it has been my main hobby. Well, now it is cold.
I borrowed a friends Evolution chip yesterday, he let me borrow it to try. Set it up at 80hp. Turned my truck into a beast! Plus I am getting close to 25mpg city, is this ussual?
And now the biggest question? Which is the best tuner. I run the AIS, have gauges, still stock exhaust. If the mileage is correct it would pay for it in a couple of fill ups. Plus FEEL THE POWER!
What year, model, do you drive, I would love to get those numbers on my 97. jeff

Since you just installed it yesterday you must be getting your mileage info from the trip meter in the overhead console. It lies. Drive the truck a while and do the hard calculations based on actual fuel and miles and see what you get. I would guess that you'll see an improvement but not quite to the tune of 25 mpg. And as you said....Feel the power! Mileage might lose some but dang.......Feel the power!
with the installation of my edge juice and attitude, my mileage went from 15.7 to about 20.4. now it has settled right around 19.9. even with a heavy foot.
From one TN hillbilly to another the Evolution is a very good programmer. The MPG info the others posted is correct, do the long hand method to figure your real MPG. Get an Evo, you'll like it we sell a lot of them and the Juice/Attitude, but you already have gauges so the Evo is a better deal for you. Call us if you have any questions, or come on by if you 're near Nashville.
You need to hand calculate to you mpg once you install a programmer, chip or even any module that tricks any of the sensors. I have used the Edge, and now have switched to the new SCT XCAL2, much better form a feature and power band.
We are running a special on gauges and SCT package deal. Let us know if we can be of any help.

TN Hillbilly,
You mentioned you still have your stock exhaust. I would suggest installing a 4" turbo-back/cat back exhaust system and a cold air intake if you are planning any more mods, to help ensure you get the most benifit out of your performance upgrades. More airflow = more power, and cooler egts to keep your turbo from burning up.
Yeah, I know the computer may lie a little. Without the tuner it was very close though. I have the odometer ready to do the math once I fill up again.
With the added power I will get one. Already have the gauges, have the AIS air intake, although next time I have to change that $60 filter I will probably go Tymar. EGT's are not that bad at 80hp setting, although I think it would be a worthy investment.
The truck is an 02 Lariet XLT, extended cab, reg bed 4x4, auto tranny.
