looking for information on the skyjacker 4 inch lift kit for a 78-79 f-250.anybody out there using one.they say it lifts the front 2-4 inches depending on the weight of the truck and the rear 4 inches.i'm using a 460 so i guess the front of my truck might be closer to 2 inches than 4. if this is true how will i lower the back end? can i remove the factory lift blocks and just run the 4 inch spring to end up with around 2 inches?
"can i remove the factory lift blocks and just run the 4 inch spring to end up with around 2 inches"
Sounds about right, if thats all you want for lift. I have 4" lift springs (Like Tough Countries. Not too sure where there from) on my front end with a 460, loses more like an 1". I'm going to put an Add A Leaf up front (well, the rear end upper overload) to help support the front end better and recover some or more of the lost height
I have the Skyjacker 4" soft ride front springs an my 79 and they look great, still have stock springs and blocks on the rear and it sits an inch or two lower in the rear. Later I hope to update the rear to a 4 link with air springs but for now I have Firestone air bags to help level the rear. Right now I'm working on converting to crossover steering and just waiting for parts to arrive. Should be cool. Email me if you need pic's.
Later,
Jon
I agree the lift shouldn't sag 2"s unless you have a 460, big winch bumper, and a big winch.
I like skyjackers products, it should be a good kit. I'm running there 6" lift on my 79 Bronco and it's doing fine for me.

even then it still woulndt sag more than 1/2 inch
back in the day i had the 4 inch lift on my truck with 36 buckshots(q-78's) it sat level with 3 inch blocks and the 3 inch factory blocks in the rear. that front end rode stiff, but alot better than their 6 inch springs
Not trying argue, but that's what I was told. You'd be fine if you had big winch bumper and winch OR a big engine like 460, with both I was told you'd loose a inch, but your the one with the expericane(kabotaorange76), so if I were Glen Graham, I'd trust what he said before I'd trust the I heard thing.
I have a 70 crewcab with the 4in skyjacker softrides which is actually a 6in on a lowboy but the same part#'s and running a custom bumper and 9500lb winch along with a 460 and it sat up to the true 4in and rides nice. Would ride better with a newer style seat in there that bench gives ya a little more bounce than I want. The is some pics of it with the springs on it in my gallery.
