33's for a 4" lift.

That's all I want on my Bronc on day. 4" suspension lift, quality 33" tires, and no body lift. Just for a little extra ground clearance and good looks.

IMHO, one you go past 4" body lifts and 33's, you get into serious off-road territory and the headaches and maintenance and lack of ride quality that go with it.

It all depends on what you want it for.

I've heard good things about skyjacker. You can easily clear 33's on your '79 with no lift at all. I know this from experience. A four inch kit will most definitely clear 35's. The wheelwells on '78-'79 trucks are huge compared to '80-'96.

i have 33's and no lift on my 78. i want to get about a 4" lift and maybe a 2 or 3" body with 35 BFG M/T's. i was up in Snohomish WA for a car show in seattle, at a car shop that customizes imports mainly, and they had a 78/79 ford F-250 XLT sittin there. i was eyeing it but they werent sure what their plans for it were yet. it has a 4" suspension lift on it. im thinking if they do anything with it, they will most likely lower it and all that, so im gonna have my friend get ahold of em, and see if i cant score the lift from em for very cheap.

personally i like the BFG mud terrains. they look good, do well in mud and sand (i hear not the best for snow and ice though) and are decent for road use. a bit noisy. i guess it depends on how much you wheel. the more aggresive the tread the more annoying the sound will be as you drive down the road.

IMO, BFG Muds are excellent. The newer tread design is a lot quieter than the old mud. They are a true all-terrain. But if mud is your game, you can't go wrong with swampers.
