Hi. I have a 1990 Ford E-350 which usually starts immediately and gives me very little problem. A few days ago, it would not start; it would crank normally, but it sounded like it wasn't getting any gas. So, we disconnected the battery for about a minute and re-connected it. It started up right away and ran fine until today when it will not start again and disconnecting the battery and re-connecting it does nothing. It cranks, but sounds like it is not getting gas. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks, but my van doesn't use glow plugs. I'm thinking it might be a fuel pump problem, since it cranks as if it isn't getting any gas. Any suggestions?

can you hear the pump energize when you turn the key forward? have you changed your fuel filter lately?
with a fuel injected vehicle do not pull a fuel line and crank it over as fuel will spray all over the place, the pump is able to deliver fuel at 50 psi.
can you provide a little more info on your vehicle like engine size and if it has dual tanks.
Start with Fuel pump relay, Front rear tank selector switch, fuel pump if it's not getting gas.
Check ignition switch for power to ignition circuit.
Might be as simple as battery cables and ground my 1990 clubwagon would crank no start, new cables and relay no more headache.
No spark at plug. Cranks and is getting gas. Suggestions???
Thanks for the replies. I took out one of the spark plugs and could smell gas. When we tried to start it, the starter performed perfectly, but the spark at the plug was very weak and irregular. Any ideas??? Thanks for your help!

One other detail the battery had a dead cell so after a few hours of night driving no start due to battery being weak.
