Referencing the crank pulley, it's at about 10 o'clock. It has a "tang" that would remind you of a timing reference pointer. After removing the retaining bolt, it gently "prys" out. Un-do the electrical connector first.

Only really difficult to change if you have the dual-alternator option on your 7.3.

If you use the right language, it'll come out.......just have to use the right combination of words, that all........think everyone is different though!

Seriously, I just changed mine (in the dark and cold rain with no light). Look at your new cps and how it is made then feel for it, with the bolt in the middle. Kinda rough with the belt on but possible to get to with a 10mm wrench or 3/8 in ratchet and 10mm socket (found it easier to use a 3" ext.) More leverage with the ratchet.

Best to locate it during daylight hours, and remember where it is. (hind-site is 20/20)

i made the mistake of looking for it from the top side...You have to climb under the front of the engine to locate it.. I got my spare in glove box, ready to go..
