Trans Temp Guage Install?

I've looked high and low for info on installing a trans temp guage. I am changing my trans fluid next weekend (swapping to synthetic) but I also plan installing a trans temp guage soon hopefully.
How do you install the temp sensor? Is there a plug on the tranny or do you drill a hole in the pan?
Don't want to waste brand new oil if I have to drop the pan again.
Any help?

wycowoy is right on the money. this is one of the easiest things you'll do. on the drivers side about 1/2 an inch above the edge of the pan there is a bolt i dont remember what size this bolt is but you'll find it easy its about in the center of your tranny. I used an autometer ultralite trans temp gauge and the sending unit fit perfectly. you loss less than a teaspoon of fluid when you do this. Good luck

If you are draining you r trany you should put a Sonnax valve and springs in while you or there!! $50 bucks well worth it. and make sure you have the shorter sender for the gauge! j

I thought combining a programmer and a shift enhancer would increase the line pressure to scary levels. With all the plans swimming around in my head about what I want to do to this truck, a trans swap isn't on the agenda
Anyone got some good info on this?

Does anyone have part#'s handy for the Sonnax valve andTricumulator springs. I'll have to hunt around for a shop that carries Sonnax bits and most likely have to buy everything individually. I would buy from one of the supporters of this site, but having stuff sent across the border sucks. I hate waiting a couple weeks for crap to clear customs then getting boned on duties/taxes.

Finally found some info on the part#'s. When you bought the kit from BlackCloud what was the size of the modulator valve? Sonnax lists 2 sizes for my application .372" and .427".
