I have to disagree on the years of the hub caps. The one on the bottom left says 87-91 The bigger style of this hub cap, was used on 3/4 & 1 ton trucks up to 1997. The 1/2 ton version was used from 1978-1991. My 83 F100 came from the factory with dog dish hub caps and the wheels where painted a cream color not argent. I think ford started painting the wheels argent in 85.
That date on that one is wrong. Sorry about that. That is the half ton cap too.
I called the "cream" colored wheel white. Well, it is kind of a off white isn't it?
From what i remember the small bolt pattern on the f-100's ment it had power brakes and the large bolt pattern ment it had manual brakes. my 85 had the argent factory wheels on it with the dog dish hub cabs. I put a set of wagon wheels on it and it looks lots better. i still have the dog dish hub caps but got rid of the rims.
My 1980 Ford pickup brochures show only 5 hole 5.5 wheels for the Bronco, F100 and F150 4x2 and 4x4. White spoked 15" wheels were a factory option.
pknute, I DO have the 5X5 1/2 15" pattern. If those spoked, "wagon" type wheels were indeed a factory option I'll keep them. As long as it was a maufacturer option I consider it "stock".
The styled steel painted white "spoke wheels" (5) or (4) with steel spare factory options are shown in figure (E) on page 19 of the 1980 Ford Pickup brochure.
while we're on the subject, I have the standard steel wheels with the hubcaps that cover the whole wheel. I REALLY like the white spoke wagon wheels that came on some of them stock (mine's a 1980 f100).
I've seen the new knockoff's that summit racing makes and they have the little red and blue pinstrip on the outer portion of the rim, but I don't like how shiny they are.
Do any of you know if the stock white wagon wheels (NOT KNOCKOFFS) are pretty easy to find and where would be a good place to look? I've hit up a couple salvage yards locally, but they didn't have anything.
I am not sure but I think the white ford wagon wheels are the same as the later argent wagon wheels that ford used up untill 1991. The only difference is the color, and the argent ones had a polished beauty ring with a red stripe. Also the hub cap is black plastic on the white wheels, while the argent ones used a chrome hub cap.
the argent color wheels with the chrome ring even have the mountings to put hubcaps like the ford corperate so yeah i think they are the same.... my 84 had the argent with chrome ring when i got it, i put a set of aluminum wheels on it that i got for 100 bucks but i kept my old wheels and stored them in the upstairs of my garage in case i ever wanna switch back.
