I think the main difference between the F100 and the F150 was the GVW sticker. I think one of the reasons for ford making the F150 was to fall into a higher weight catagory to get around the EPA emission standards.
Sierraben: Many differences between the F100 and F150 in 80-81.
F100 came in 4x2 0nly in Styleside and Flareside.
F100 was standard cab only. F150 had standard and SuperCab
F100 had lower payload.
F100 had 2600 lb front axle. F150 had 3400 lb front axle
F100 had 2800 lb rear axle. F150 had 3750 lb rear axle.
F100 had 4.9L 300 6 or 5.0L 302 in 1980 adding a 4.2L 255 to the choices in 1981.
F150 had 4.9L 300 6, 5.0L 302 or 5.8L 351 engine choices.
F100 had smaller width tires.
My 1981 F-100 originally had the small bolt pattern (5 x 4.5). The previous owner swapped it out for the bigger bolt pattern (5 x 5.5) from a 1980 F-150.
id sell you the stockers off my 85...check out my gallery if you want to look at them.
Edit...they are still the originaly wheels and the truck is an 85 flareside with XL trim, so they have the silver wheels, with the beauty rings and the little innter chromie hub cap.

There were 4 wheel options for the '80 Ford 4x2 and 4x4. They're described in that year's brochure (in Canada anyway) as follows: A. Styled steel painted white (5). B. 10-hole polished forged aluminum with clear plastic coating (5), or (4) with steel spare. C. Sport wheel covers (4); these are plastic, argent painted. D. 5-slot brushed forged aluminum with clear plastic coating (5), or (4) with steel spare. If my gallery is up (crossing my fingers here) you can see them there.
Further investigation has confirmed that some F100's in 1980 had 4.5" hole spacing, but most had 5.5" hole spacing. Why? Just another Ford mix and match as needed, apparently. Stock wheels were 15"x5.5", but 15"x6" wheels were an option.
The most comon wheel there is on the F-series is the basic standard steel wheel. Depending on what hubcap or wheel cover you had they were painted, white, argent or black.
White painted for the argent dog dish hubcaps that say (Ford Motor Company) on them in the center, with a black painted accent ring. First introduced in 1973, and ended after the 1981 model year. This was the standard set with no options.
Argent painted for the aluminum polished dog dish hubcaps. This was also a standard set, but for higher end trucks, like XL, XLT, etc...
Black for the Sport wheel covers that you can see in emgee's gallery. Optional etc...
And there were several different factory wheels that you could special order or were a dealer option to, Like in emgee's gallery.
Here's a picture of the most comon wheel covers and the dates of production for the standard steel wheels.
I have to disagree on the years of the hub caps. The one on the bottom left says 87-91 The bigger style of this hub cap, was used on 3/4 & 1 ton trucks up to 1997. The 1/2 ton version was used from 1978-1991. My 83 F100 came from the factory with dog dish hub caps and the wheels where painted a cream color not argent. I think ford started painting the wheels argent in 85.
in 1980,81,82, and 83 the F-100s came with the small 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern in only two wheel drive no 4 wheel drives where offered in F-100s i have owned 4 F-100s oh and 1983 was the last year of the F-100
just my two cents worth
