Ok all, thanks for the input to my problem! I did buy the Supercab today! I think it needs a carb overhaul. It had some hesitation. When I was checking the curb idle, it just died! It wasn't even idling that low... Maybe accel pump? It wasn't driven much in the last couple years, so it may be dried out. Adjusting the idle mixture screws did nothing for it. I used carb cleaner liberally on it.
I might have to just change oil and then get some new plugs to put in.
Does anyone object to the Platinum plugs by Bosch? What is the consensus on plugs in this forum?
I also found the truck to have intermittent wipers! That was a bonus. I found out by accident, messing with all the switches to see what worked and what didn't.
Tore off the seat covers and found some real decent seats underneath! The cable is broke for the driver seat tilt-forward. I can't seem to figure out how to release it manually...
No noticeable blowby, either, or oil smoke.
Thanks again for the help! I know, the 390 would have been nice too, but the flatdeck just wouldn't work for me...

Motorcraft or Autolites, both were factory equipment. Gap should be .044. STAY AWAY FROM CHAMPION PLUGS!!! I cannot stress this enough. Every vehicle I've ever worked on that has had champion plugs ran 20 times better with different plugs. I even have a set of champions that were in my Torino, fired it up, lasted about 5 min then one at a time (very quickly) 3 plugs separated the porcelin from the metal. It doesnt take anything more than a simple flooded engine to ruin a set of champions. I think of em as sorta like fram. Crap parts, but the name recognition is so high, they manage to stay in buisness.
