Fipk Kit

Anyone Tried The K&n Fipk Kit On A 94 W/7.5l? Just Curious About If They Got Any Milage Increases. Or Has Anyone Tried The Banks Powerpack On A 94 7.5l. :-x25

MAF or no?

i never had that particular engine, but i had the FIPK on my old 90 F150 4.9L. i loved it! i didn't ever dyno it or anything, but it was pretty obvious that the truck enjoyed the extra power. i have some long hills/mountains around here that i could never go up w/o having to downshift and rev the snot out of it just to keep speed. with the FIPK, i could just roll my foot into it and leave it in 5th. i could get up just about anything with ease. as far as MPG, i didn't notice any HUGE gains, but i didn't notice any drops, either.

i liked the FIPK enough to order it up for my "new" truck, an 89 F250 5.8L

hope this helps,

Mike

How to I identify whether I have MAF or Not

How do I determine whether I have the MAF system or speed density system? Its been awhile since I have played with the newer Fords!

is the intake one large tube or 2 smaller ones? 2 smaller = speed density.

I have the speed Density system

My truck has the two small tubes, so speed density system. Has anyone tried the K&N kit or a homemade kit on the speed density system? I have looked into the banks powerpak upgrade but, can't spare the $1800 right now. Thinking about deleting the cats and upgrading the air intake to see if I can get a slight mpg increase and increase performance. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

FYI, mine was speed density, too.

i've seen some home-grown stuff done with 2 smaller K&N cone filters with equal success. i just went with the FIPK bc i live in CA and like to keep it all legal-like.

saay what?
mine has 1 large tube feeding 2 small ones. look for the MAF sensor between the throttle body and the air cleaner box. square looking flat thing w/4 or 5 wires going to it. if you got one of those its MAF if not its speed density.

oh, sorry. i'm not familiar with the newer ones too much. that's just always how i distinguished between the two. of course, looking for the MAFS helps, too!
