This is my first post in the 6.0 forum. Anyhow, I currently own a 2000 4x4 7.3. In the next 1.5-2 years I'm going to buy a newer truck. If I go for a 6.0, what year do you guys think I'd be better with? I'm aware that some of the early '03s had issues, so feel free to let me know which is best. I'm thinking along the lines of an '05, but I'm not too sure. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks fellas!
No matter what, I plan on getting the 6.0. I'm not a gas kind of guy. I'll only be putting on 10K-12K miles annually. It will be pulling a 29' snowmobile trailer from MA to ME 2 or 3 times per year (5 hour trip). It may possibly be pulling a car trailer from MA to PA once per year. But I will be buying the truck more because of the fact that I love big diesel trucks. I do not really need it, but I'm 21 right now, and have never owned a car. My 2000 F-250 PSD is basically a toy but I feel no guilt in not making it work hard every day. Men need to have their toys! So truck..check. Snowmobile..check. Mopar muscle car..working on it!
PS-I think I'll be leaning toward and '05 because I'd like to get a truck with the newer nose/interior/coil springs up front etc.
Newer trucks are nice, but your 2000 may have a lot of life left and seems adequate for your needs. You can make a lot of upgrades to the 2000 for a lot less than the price of a 2005 upgrade. Just a thought.
Oh I'm well aware that it will last for a long time, but I'm not the kind of guy that drives it til it breaks. I like to upgrade every three or four years. Thanks for the thoughts guys.
