installing gears
I'm tring to install gears in my 9in.I 'm putting 4.56 gears and detroit locker in it.when I try to get 5tho. to 8tho. backlash the ring gear hits the small pinion bearing support! I went by the installing gears on this site.I'm a failure all the way around.

The ring gear on a 4.56 set is pretty wide so there are times where that pinion boss needs to be trimmed back with a die grinder. However you likely haven't checked your tooth pattern yet. The pinion gear may not be deep enough in the case (pinion depth shim too thick) causing the ring gear to be too far to the right (closer to the pinion boss).
