My 2001 SC (4 Liter, 4x4) has developed a slight "clunk" in the front end drivers side. I can feel it imtermittently upon accelerating from or coming to a stop. Occasionally it can also be felt going over small bumps.
After alot of searching, the Ford dealer claims that the upper control arms have "a little play" and should be replaced. I'm not sure if he meant the upper ball joints or the arms themselves, but I'm not convinced that's the problem. He only reached this conclusion after I pressed him to keep looking (the lower ball joints are new). It does have the original shocks - but they're not leaking.
Any suggestions?
