time to raise a little ........

these fuel prices are crazy...Im hearing that there is actually a diesel surplus right now and noone can explain why gas goes down and diesel goes up seeing as it costs less to refine diesel....heres the question..where are the truckers.....I cant believe they are not screaming bloody murder yet....thats what we need to make Washington do something....last time the truckers talked strike....tada fuel prices went down.....Well I feel a little better now so I guess I'll go spend $45.00 and top my tank off (1/3 of a tank!!!)

Truckers talking strike won't even make a difference in fuel prices. The trucking industry would shift to south of the border drivers. Happening already.. If you want to make a statement on fuel prices, whether it be diesel or gas, I suggest that the nation make a blue Monday strike. On Friday the highway that travels to Las Vegas is packed with cars, trucks, you name it, and I've not seen any change because of fuel prices. If you want fuel prices to come down, limit your driving. The fuel companies know they can charge you just about anything, because you must drive to work, play, grandma's house, ect ect. I really think the companies are still testing the waters to what they can get away with. As far as Bio Diesel, I have read that the BTU's aren't up to diesel performance standards, somewhere in the neighborhood of 117k as to prefered 130k+ as that for #2.

You'd think that since I'm in the heart of soybean country, I'd be able to get more than B2.

B2 is the only bio in the whole state of SD....go figure!

I don't know about you guys, but I'm rather P.O.ed about these prices. Just today at one station diesel jumped $0.30 from $3.09 to $3.39. While gas dropped a couple cents to $2.32/gal. Diesel is more than $1/gal than gasoline, what's the deal???
I don't know what I can all do, but I am going to try to call my governor and sentors tomorrow, just to complain.
I've been doing some searching and came upon this presentation, rather interesting to read if you have a little time.
http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/p...les/frame.html
Looks like diesel prices being higher than gas will be the general trend. It's assinine I think!

I'm afraid your mistaken.. Trucks are the backbone of this country, maybe even the whole world.. Sooner or later everything is moved, delivered, picked up or has some bearing on a truck. Yes we could make a difference if we started talking strike. We could make a huge difference if we actually did strike.. Remember several years ago when about 300 trucks showed up at the white house and parked? Had traffic tied up all day and night till they got them all moved. The next day Fuel prices went down.50c. A month later they were down $1.50.
I think one of the biggest problems is there are a lot of people in this country that are hurting big time, and in their minds they cant afford to strike for 1 Day, 3 or 4 days is out of the question, or so they think..
Just imagine the damage that would be done if you could get 25% of the trucks on the road today to park, just for one day.
As for the Hispanics taking over the trucking industry, that will never happen. The federal government is making it more and more difficult for us to hire drivers. You wouldnt believe the things we have to do to even get a driver qualified with the insurance carriers now days. And let me tell ya,, The state of Texas has a Multi Million dollar business going down on the Border. They inspect 1000's of trucks a day. I've had trucks tied up for days trying to get across. No tellin how many trucks they turn around and send back down south or tickets that they write.
The biggest problem is the Oil Companies and politicians..Look at their profits, they are recording record profits every quarter while we all struggle to fill our tanks. Imagine how much money they would lose if 25% of the trucks on the road parked for a day in a good ol fashion strike.!

I'm still stubborn about it all. I still don't see where the demand for fuel in general and especially diesel has risen much. In fact my personal demand has been forced down greatly. Which is not a bad thing in itself. But for diesel to be 1 buck more a gallon-- fraud somewhere IMHO. And to top it off, we have a small producing well on our land. I've never ever seen a barrel of oil at 70-80 bucks. In fact in all the ups and downs of prices, a barrel has remained around 35 bucks basically for us and has for years.

Then lets talk about all the abandoned wells here that can be re-entered and start producing again due to new technology.

And finally this shortage did not occur overnite-- but seems like the price certainly has.

As much as I hate to say it, are we consuming the useage through the govt and military and paying the price as civilians?

Jeff
