I'm thinking of installing those white bulbs on my Aero I believe they're called Xenon bulbs.
I've been doing some research about the "fake" Xenons that plug in like your stock bulbs and the "real" Xenons that require a ballast to power them and have no filament.
I was perfectly fine with a bulb that produces close enough white light without the Xenon price tag from there I learned that I could buy relatively inexpensive Xenon halogens to do that they fill a standard bulb with Xenon and color or filter the glass blue.
HID's use the ballast to get to a HV arc and no filament, require a special HID reflector, filament reflector is different because of diff. light source shape. HID's into filament reflector are a waste of $500
I use 9007 hi intensity xexon white with the clear bulb envelopes from JC Whitney, 4 years and still going, clear bulb glass gives higher total light output
want more light out the front, add a larger pair of driving lights 4-6 inch with 100w or 130w H3 xenon bright white bulbs, burns deer hair off the road at 100 yards.
nice thing is one can buy singles of the H3 almost anywhere after a burnout during a long trip, try to find a single 9007 Xenon hi intensity at a decent price, have to buy pairs, why subject the filaments to 50k miles of riding around in the back waiting for their brothers to burn out.
I have the Sportsline 8500K bulb in my vic. It is in fact so white that it hits light blue.
However DO NOT use any other brand if you do intend on using one. EuroDezign ones are crap. I have them for my high and they're not even close to white.
If you want something cheap and reliable that's white, get Sylvania SiverStar ones. They're reletavely good, but MAY have a short lifespan

I have to disagree with this last statement. I have been running silverstars for years and have had no issues with burnout or anything else. So far all gear head sites have agreed that the silverstars are the best HO bulb out there and does not break DOT laws. Also they are made by Sylvania, a well known light bulb company.
As for sportsline, never heard of it, so I cannot comment on their effectiveness.
As for EroDezign, I agree, they are crap. Just a collord bulb that they want $20 a pair for, compared to $8 for normal halo. They also burn out quickly.
Another thing that you want to look at is wattage. Aeros (along with other Fords) do not have a heavy enough gauge wire for running 100w or 130w bulbs for extended periods of time. Possible outcomes are burnt up switch, wires, or vehicle. You do not want to over tax your wiring, otherwise you might find yourself bailing from a flaming Aero.

That's why I said "may" in bold letters. They have burnt out for some people as early as 6 months. I have never used them before... so i really can't say, but i know that 3 of my friends who had the 9007 replaced theirs in a very short spam because it burnt out.
a failing alternator voltage regulator w high charge voltage can be a quick death on expensive headlight filaments
do NOT touch the glass envelope on any of the halogen bulbs with fingers, drastically reduces life due to contamination on fingers tranfer to bulb causing extreme hot spot. heat kills halogens
use a soft cotton material, clean T shirt, if one must manipulate the bulb.
scratches from wiping with paper towel can also cause early failure, heat and light reflections back into bulb.
I've always used a prep pad(isopropyl alchohol) to clean my halo's. then a soft CLEAN cotton cloth to wipe down and install. never know who else may have touched them or what might be on them. just a tip from my experience with the 500 w tube style halo's for my work-lights.
I went for the Sylvania Silverstars and what a difference.
Put a standard incandescent bulb next to a flourescent bulb thats the color difference between these and your standard halogen.
While I know its just the filtered glass that produces the white light other people won't know that .
They are a little pricey at $20 a bulb but they are completely worth it against the stock bulbs and don't be tricked by the second rate $9.95 for a set of two (for the Aeros) or four (low beams and high beams for other vehicles) on e-bay you get what you pay for.
I have read about those bulbs you'll end up replacing them every four months due to their cheap filaments.
You couldn't be righter about the cheap bulbs on ebay. I had to replace them in only 3 months. I have since changed to Silverstars and replaced the light switch because of the fake bulbs from ebay.

Why do you need to change the light switch? Did the fake bulbs cause it to burn?
adding relay control feed to headlighs and running new 14 ga super flex copper to headlights cuts down on voltage drop to headlights, halogens really dim down when voltage drops with both fans, stereo and all the lights on long night time trip. use a relay with min. 30a contacts for long life and low contact V drop.
also reduces load on in dash light switch.
I integrated a silent (no click) solid state transistor type relay into my Aero's headlight circuit to check out a wide array of relays visit Jameco.com.
They have a wide selection and are pretty cheap as well.
