My cel is on and I Need some advice on the possible cause. I have a 90 ranger 2.3 5spd ,I have changed all sensors due to the age of the truck. I Pulled the codes which were 34,88 . Does this sound like a simple fix.
The 34 is an EGR code, I'm thinking EVP sensor or EGR valve but you should run the pinpoint tests to determine the exact cause. Drop me an email if you need a copy.
The 88 is not in my book but it could be a tranny, AC or ignition problem.
A\Is the truck running OK? If it is I would suspect the 34 as the reason for the CEL.
Go to www.fordfuelinjection.com and you can learn how to read all the codes and all that. I think code 33 is no egr valve opening not detected, while 34 is PFE or EVP circuit above the closed limit of 0.67 volts, or PFE or EVP circuit has intermittently failed above the closed limit of 0.67 volts. What that means I couldnt tell ya. Code 88 is Electro-drive fan circuit failure and or Loss of dual plug input control. I had the same code until I changed my DIS computer and everything is well. It could be a fan related problem. That could be my problem to be honest. My fan kicks on when the gauge gets up above N on normal...
