Just a little update. Today I finally dropped the tranny. It had a slight burnt smell to the fluid. The fluid was contaminated with little metallic particles, but cleaner than I thought it should be. I also found out my converter is trash (It rattles when I shake it, like the complete inside came loose). I will hopefully take it apart this week or weekend to see what else broke. I hope not much more.

Hmm...sounds like time for a complete rebuild. I would not skimp on it with small metallic particles going into it (they go everywhere). Replace all soft parts, all the bushings, thrust washers, front pump, t-converter, and any hard parts you find damaged. Be very careful with the valve body rebuild. Any tiny particles in there means serious problems. Make sure it completely clean and every valve moves properly as you go back together with it.
Again, I have not worked on one of these, but it shouldn't be too much different than a ford as far procedures and what to replace.

I planned on a complete rebuild any way. I have a buddy who is going to help me. He has built many transmissions to my knowledge. I plan on cleaning it out like there is no tomorrow. Thanks for the little tips though.
Just an update. I decided not rebuild the trans myself this time; not enough time or money to risk having to do it over. The trans is going to get dropped off at the trans shop sometime today. Hopefully it won't be much longer before the truck is back on the road. Although, I won't be doing any racing until I get my 9 inch built, which will be a while since I don't have much money. I will still be able to cruise it around though, just got to keep my foot out it.
YEAH RIGHT!! Are you trying to convince us of that or trying to convince yourself? I know that when I run my truck around the block it takes dang near everything I have to not mash the throttle onto the floorboards!!
I tried and it buffed all the money out of my wallet.

I think I'm trying to convince myself, I think. I actually got pretty good at it, unless somewone was taunting me. Then it turns into
I bit the bullet and went and talked to the local DMV (motor vehicles). I actually found a gal who was helpful. I think I'll be able to get paperwork for my truck within a few weeks. WOOHOOO!!!!
I'll have to do a surety bond thing but for less than $200 and a few weeks I'll have title, registration, and a license plate.
