Alanscott, I used the dupont chroma system base coat clear coatit is hard enough to wet sand and buff if you have to. the clear is activated so it gets real hard real fast. I put some extra clear on it just to get a really ddep look but the pearl in the silver is what "makes" the color. It flips like a opal with shades of green purple and silver. Now I have a pair of mustangs in the driveway that are this color, the wifes 95 G/T convertible is the same color with a black top!!! John
Hey guy's! I personally got to see this stang' of John's. He did one hell of a job. All that was left that needed to be done to the car were the typical detail type of things. Standard clean up plus a few little tibs and tads. John, The car looks great! I wish you the best of luck with it. Watch where you park it. Jake.
A tear comes to my eye, when I think of the 66 I sold. I would have looked almost identical to that. It was going to cost $13,00 to restore, before a paint job (to do it right.) And I could not afford to do it. Thank you John. I will have to send you a picture of what minereally looked like from the factory, and a picture of a 67 in the same color.
Again thanks!
I have found a color to re-paint my 65 F-100 in though. Just found ti the other day on a 56 Chev pickup. PPG Cypress red, You want to talk bright? I am going to go with that color of red with a Bright (very bright) white, and split it at the body line. Then it's on to the all black interior with 65 Mustang buckets, and A/C!

Hotrod, the whitest white I have found I paintd my 84 with it is a 99 ford truck color called oxford white. I painted the truck white while I was going through a nasty divorse then two toned it after kind of incognito. LOL there are a million white fords out there. John
Tell me about it, I have found that out, not all white crown vics are police cars. The only easy way to tell a police cruiser from behind? Look for the dual exhaust turn downs! It's a dead giveaway.

Hotrod, in NJ we have these little stickers we have to put on our liscense plates shows the expiration date of the reg. well the police cruisers don't have them!!!! there is no expiration on them or they have MG plates (municipal government) but those little stickers are easy to spot. LOL think they are so cool just haven't figured out there are people who check out all the differences. John
Well, around here there is a Narcotics task force that runs solid black crown vics. Black wheels, black grilles, and very very very dark tinted windows. No visible lights unless you look very close! The front lights are hidden in the grille, and there are lights on the outside mirrors, but with the black paint you don't see them unless the light hits them just right. You would know one of these cars coming towards you, but going away from you the pipes are a dead give away, and the side emblems on the car are maybe 14 inches in diameter. Can you say, perfect police unit for use at night?

Hotrod, most of ours around here have a black grille and looking from the back it has an emblem that says Police intercepter DUH how are we going to hide now ??? some of ours have the lights in the mirrors too I would like to have a set of them just to play with. LOL John
If you have a crown vic, then all you have to do is buy the lights, but mind you they are expensive. Try $199 just for the two light heads. And then you have to buy the Strobe power supply, which they can range in price from $79 for a two light power supply, to $329 for an 8 light 150 watt power supply.
Now you can figure out where your tax dollars go!

Looks good John! Hopefully get to see it in Person sometime if I ever get that way. We are finally leaving out of here tomorrow for the UK. Been in NY for the last day and a half relaxing and resting up. Family has been popping out of the wood work like mad. LOL. Man I miss my Trucks already.
I hope to someday, start on my '68 fastback. It has all the original numbers, an "S" numbered 390 with a factory 4 speed. I thought about putting a/c in it because I am in Houston where it gets very hot in the summer but since I got it for my Bride, I asked if she wanted it to be all original and she does. So... we will drive it in the fall and winter. :-)
